100k Views and One Million Thanks (Plus Updates)!

I’m so excited to see that my blog has reached the 100,000 view mark! I know I say it often, but thank you to everyone who takes the time out of their busy lives to read my posts. Whether you’ve been reading since I first started posting a year and a half ago, or if you randomly came across my page tonight, it really does make me feel good knowing that someone out there is reading. Blogging continues to be not only a great relaxing hobby for me, but it has also given me the opportunity to connect with many amazing people. I enjoy reading the messages and e-mails from my readers, and being able to help provide guidance to some of you on your own journeys has been even more rewarding. Through this blog I have learned that there are so many other individuals out there with whom I share similar experiences, and hopefully I have helped make the road a little less difficult for some of you embarking on the same path. You all are much appreciated, and I hope that I continue to write posts that keep you reading :-)

MRI Room Up Close and Personal

As for a brief update, I ended last week’s hospital shadowing at a pediatric imaging center, and it was such a cool experience! I had the chance to see the full process of how magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is done, and since it was at a pediatric center, it was even more interesting observing it when you have to take into account the feelings of a child. I thought it was super awesome that there was a mini MRI simulator for the children in the patient rooms, and they were explained the process using teddy bears and the simulator. Looking back I wish I would have taken a picture of the simulator, but I did get a pretty great picture of the MRI machine which I posted above. I was also happy to learn that I had in fact retained a ton of neuroanatomy information, even though it was a subject I struggled with the most during my first year of medical school. So far, I’ve been pretty good with radiology, and seeing the images in real time with great clarity was another highlight of my time at the imaging center. Afterwards, I really wanted to come home and review everything I learned, but I managed to stick to my summer goal of not studying.

Summer Fun with the Girls!

As for not studying, I will be picking up my daughter tomorrow, so I made sure to really go out and enjoy myself this past week. I rarely have the chance to go out at the drop of a dime and have fun without worries, so that is exactly what I did nearly every single day. I visited friends, had a few late night dinners, and I even had the chance to see a late night movie without having to worry about finding a babysitter. I even caught up with a few of my classmates today and enjoyed walking around, being silly, and taking in some of the Atlanta sights. I look forward to being back in mommy-mode tomorrow and hanging out with the little one, but every now and then it just feels so good to have carefree adult time. But anyway, I just had an evening of conference calls and I need to get some sleep for my drive tomorrow, so I hope everyone enjoys their week!
